Infrastructures; basis in strategic planning for sustainable development
The second edition of the FORUM_babel is presented to take place in November 2006, preceded by the excellent approval of the I FORUM_babel Sustainability and Landscape in November 2004 and due to the commitment to create a biannual multi-disciplinary platform for the discussion of our territorial development.
This time the approach of the FORUM_babel 2006, ARCHITECTURE, URBANISM and LANDSCAPE. ARTE_FACTOS is again the creation of a meeting point to discuss and exchange international and local experiences in Urbanism, Architecture and Landscape that have to do with sustainability. However, this second edition is focused on infraestructures .
Strategies of the initial occupation and future urban development, structuration of constructed spaces and communication, and technological progress of building that are under these situations, management and helping axels and nets.
On Urbanism scale ; territories in the border of land (coastlines), territories in steep landscapes (mountains-valleys); and territories in extensive flat landscapes, all of them give different solutions when the tipology of communication nets is established, obtaining a wide range of examples in urban development models.
The urban planning, as well as the metropolitan development, is on condition of models of mobility and the management of infrastructures,and thus, this is a crucial question to discuss in this congress and at the same time the influence of this subject in the use of our territory will be defined.
On architecture scale ; the infrastructures are responsible for the transport, the use, the collection, the treatment and the re-use of the prevailing and alternative energies of the most threaten natural resources, such as water, and consequently they play a main roll in the new change of conciousness for the design of our cities and buildings.
Models of generation, contribution and use of individual natural resources, should create collective infraestructures not only for buildings, but also on urban planning scale. These models are the base of the discussion of this congress.
In conclusion, infrastructures will contribute in an active way to re-think our urban landscape with a much successful proposals, if we achieve a suitable adaptation of the territorial model to its natural and landscape values and so that impacts on nature will be minimized, proposing integrated designs that will collaborate with technology and technical progresess
